MEMORIAL 1This picture shows the Battle of Britain Memorial statue, situated on the clifftop in our village. This is a very popular visitor attraction and well worth a visit. On certain occasions a Battle of Britain Flypast can be seen in memory of our lost pilots during World War II. See our Useful Links page for other places to visit in our area.

We are sorry to announce that

Our Post Office

 Closed on

10th January

As part of the Area Plan for Kent, Post Office Ltd   closed our Post Office on a permanent basis as from

10tb January 2008

We FOUGHT to keep our Post Office but we have failed.  This is a Lifeline gone from our village, but we do not give up easily.

AS A RESULT OF THE  PUBLIC MEETING HELD BY

THE PARISH COUNCIL & THE VILLAGE HALL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

 ON THURSDAY 27TH MARCH AT 7 P.M.

TO DISCUSS THE FURURE OF THE POST OFFICE BUILDING

Several ideas were put forward and our Parish Council and Village Hall Committee will be working together on how we can provide services for our village.

This building was built by the villagers, for the villagers, we aim to keep it that way. Watch this space and the Grapevine for the decisions to be made shortly.

On behalf of the Capel-le-Ferne Village Hall Management Committee, may we welcome you to our friendly and busy village situated on the B2011, between Folkestone and Dover on the South East Coast of England, (see our Useful Links page for local places of interest).  We do hope you will find something to interest you whilst perusing our site.  The Village Hall plays an important role in the lives of the villagers and it provides many activities and other community projects for them to enjoy.  See the list of the clubs and other activities (with contact numbers), that are held in the hall.

The Village Hall is a Registered Charity (281.786) and is run by the villagers, for the villagers.  See the Hall Committee page for conditions of hire and a list of all Committee Members.  It is in the process of refurbishment and the Committee is working extremely hard to keep ahead of the expenditure.  Apart from its use by organisations many additional activities and events are run to fill the ‘coffers’.  You too can help by shopping on-line via our Clubshare shops, www.clubshare.co.uk/capelleferne there are hundreds to choose from and for every sale, we receive a small percentage for our funds.

Every Tuesday a Farmers' Market is held, and regular indoor Boot Fairs are organised during the winter months, (both extremely popular in the area with support from many outside the village).  There are also quiz nights, discos, fashion shows and craft shows to name but a few (see the What's On Diary).  If you are new to our village the Community Afternoons and Friendship Circle are great places to make new friends. The weekly (Thursdays) Community Afternoon  (Teas from Two) session where books, jigsaws and videos can be hired for a nominal fee or a game of cards or scrabble can be played.  It is also a very good meeting place and where Advice Surgeries on various topics are occasionally held.  We are always open to new ideas and suggestions,

Quiz Sheets:-  Another way of fund-raising are our very popular Quiz Sheets which are available by post or at the Farmers' Market or Community Afternoon.  These Quiz Sheets are set on a different subject every 6 weeks with a prize for the winner.  The quizzes are usually cryptic and are a great way of keeping the brain working!

A monthly Grapevine newsletter is delivered to every household in Capel-le-Ferne, which gives all the information on forthcoming events and reports from clubs etc. This is a 'must' read, especially for those without access to this web site.

We hope you enjoy our Capel-le-Ferne website and find it an interesting community.  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact any of the Committee members, who will be pleased to help. (See Hall Committee)

Our sincere good wishes,
